Before a second operation the surgeon asks whether you need one at all. Sometimes the answer is an injection, not a scalpel.
If surgery is right, the choice between a re-sleeve and a bypass is made by endoscopy when you arrive, not by a sales call.
Regain between years two and five is common and is usually tied to eating patterns rather than surgical failure. If your portions are still small, the sleeve is still doing its job.
For regain with a sleeve that still restricts, medication is often enough and avoids a second operation. The surgeon will say so even though it means you do not book.
Reflux after a sleeve is an indication in its own right. Conversion to a mini gastric bypass treats both the reflux and the regain.
What the stomach looks like matters more than what was planned by message. Stretched sleeve and mild reflux: a re-sleeve is possible. Significant reflux: mini bypass.

A re-sleeve or a sleeve-to-mini-bypass conversion is £3,500, all-inclusive, with the same four nights in hospital as a first operation. Gastric band removal with conversion to a sleeve is £3,500, to a mini bypass £3,800, and band removal alone is £2,000.
Not necessarily. If your portions are still small and you have never tried a GLP-1 injection, that is usually the first step. Surgery comes into it when you do not want medication, or when reflux has become part of the problem.
An endoscopy on arrival does. If the sleeve has stretched and reflux is not severe, a re-sleeve is possible. If reflux is significant, conversion to a mini gastric bypass is the better operation. The price is the same, so the choice is not steered by cost.
Bring it if you have it. For a gastric band it is not required.
In most cases, yes: the band, the tubing and the port under the skin come out and the conversion is done in the same operation. Two stages are only needed when the band has eroded into the stomach wall.
Band removal with conversion to a sleeve usually takes about two hours; conversion to a mini bypass about two and a half. Longer than a first sleeve, because of scar tissue around the band.
Two nights in hospital, then home. Everything else in the package is the same: tests and endoscopy, companion, transfers, twelve months of follow-up, no deposit.
Yes, somewhat: there is scar tissue and the anatomy has been changed once already. That is exactly why it belongs with a surgeon who does revisions regularly, in a hospital with intensive care, with the full four nights' stay.
Tell the surgeon what you had done and when, your weight then and now, and whether you have reflux. He answers himself, and the first answer may be that you do not need surgery.
Year, type of operation, lowest weight, weight today, reflux yes or no. That is enough for an honest first opinion.
WhatsApp is the quickest route. You write to the surgeon himself, not a call centre or an agency.
